Habit                  :  Middle sized tree
 
Uses : the root, bark and fruit are astringent. The unripe fruit is cooling, laxative and diuretic. Exudation from incisions on the fruit is applied externally on inflammation of the eye. The expressed juice of the fruit along with other ingredients is used to cure hemorrhage, anemia, colic, acute leprosy, fits, insanity, jaundice, cough, hiccough, indigestion, dyspepsia and asthma.. 
 
       
 
Kumbuk
 
Scientific name:    Terminalia arjuna
Family                :  Comberetaceae
Plant                   :  A large evergreen tree
 
Uses:   A decoction of the bark is used to wash lice & is taken internally for bilious affections & as an antidote to poisons. The juice of the leaves for earache. For fractures and contusions, with excessive ecchymosed, powdered bark is given internally with milk. Preparations with the bark are administered for diseases of heart, lungs & for fractures & contusions.

Kurundu
 
Scientific name:  Cinnamomum zeylanicum
Family               :  Lauraceae
Plant                 :  A moderate sized or large tree
 
Uses : The bark of this tree is used for dyspepsia, latuleace, diarrhea, dysentery, vomiting, bronchitis, gangrene of the lungs & phthisis. The bruised bark is steamed & used externally as a frentation on boils & abcesses to prevent suppuration. The oil is useful application for acute & chromic rheumatism. Crystalline cinnamic acid is ant tubercular.  Kurudu also given for cramps of the stomach, toothache & paralysis of the tongue & used in massive doses in the treatment of cancer.
 
Penala

Plant                   :  An small short plant
 
Uses: The whole plant is used internally & externally in case of rheumatism, nervous diseases, dropsy & ochitis. The juice of the plant is used as ear drops for earache and emetic & laxative & considered an aperients. The leaves are boiled in caster oil and applied externally on rheumatic pains, swelling & tumors. This plant considered an anathematic & anti-blenorrhagic. It is used  as an anti-rheumatic & indigestive & Pulmonary disorders.
 
Attikka
 
Scientific name:  Ficus Racemosa
Family                :  Moraceas
Plant                   :  An evergreen tree
 
Uses : An Infusion of the bark or the expressed juice of the unripe fruit is given for menorrhagin, haemoptysis and urinary diseases. The milky juice is administered for piles & diarrhea. The powdered leaves are used for bilious ailments. The root is useful for dysentery & the sap of the roots for diabetes & hemorrhoids. The Boiled fruits are given to prevent injury to the intestines as a result of swallowing injurious objects. The juice of the root is a tonic & given for gonorrhea. The bark is also employed to extract poison from wounds caused by animals.
 
Uluhal

Plant                   : An aromatic herb 30-60 cm tall
 

Uses:  Fenugreek seeds are considered carminative & aphrodisiac. They are used for dyspepsia, diarrhea, dysentery, cholesterol & rheumatism.

Plant              :  An annual fetid herbal plant
 
Uses : The seeds have anti-parasitic properties and one applied on ringworm and scabies, the entire plant in decoction is given as vermifuge and purgative. In china the seeds are used both externally and internally for all type of eye diseases, liver complaints and boils. The foot of the plant is used as a bitter tonic.

Uses:  A decoction of the bark is given internally for diarrhea & dysentery. Externally it is used for cleaning uncers & as a mouthwash for spongy gums. A fine paste of the bark with cow’s milk cures bloody discharge in dysentery. A syrup prepared for the juice of the ripe fruit is useful for enlarged spleen & chronic diarrhea. The seeds are taken as a remedy for diabetes as they check the conversion of starch  in to sugar. Extract of the leaves buds & flowers possess moderate antibiotic against Micrococcus pyogenes & Escherichia coli.
